• Allentown: median home built 1952, 37.9 percent of the stock older than 1940, about one household in seven still heating with oil.
• Bethlehem: straddles the Lehigh and Northampton county line, mixing Moravian-era buildings downtown with dense Steel-era rowhomes on the South Side.
• Easton: 63.3 percent of the housing predates 1940, the oldest stock in the region, and gas heats 58 percent of households, the highest share nearby.
• Emmaus: gas, electricity and fuel oil each heat about a third of the borough, so replacement often starts with choosing a fuel rather than a furnace.
• Lower Macungie Township: the newest housing in the county, median year built 1993, with 34.3 percent built between 2000 and 2009 and equipment now at end of life.
• Whitehall Township: electricity heats 54.4 percent of households, the only municipality in the service area where it is the majority heating fuel.
• Quakertown: the borough has run its own municipal electric department since the early 1890s, so borough electric customers are not PPL customers.
• Coopersburg: fuel oil heats 40.3 percent of households, the highest oil share in the region, and 85 percent of the borough predates 1970.
• Center Valley: part of Upper Saucon Township, where propane heats 6.3 percent of households, several times the rate in nearby boroughs and cities.

Plenty of work happens in places too small for their own page. Near the shop that means Alburtis, Trexlertown, Breinigsville, Wescosville, Zionsville and Old Zionsville. West and north of Allentown it takes in Fogelsville, Orefield and Schnecksville. Along the Lehigh River, Catasauqua and Northampton, with Hellertown below South Bethlehem. South past the county line, Pennsburg and East Greenville.

What every town here has in common

The fuel mix changes by town. The design conditions do not.

• A winter design temperature near 8 F in Lehigh and Northampton counties, near 11 F in Bucks County. Equipment gets chosen against that, not a mild average.
• A summer design temperature near 91 F, and about 5,800 heating degree days a year at Allentown against 757 cooling degree days.
• Pennsylvania moved to the 2021 IRC and 2021 IECC on January 1, 2026, so work here is judged against that code now.
• UGI is the gas utility throughout, but UGI territory is not the same as a main on your street. UGI extends a service line at no cost within 150 feet of an existing main.

If you are outside the area

Calls come in from further out, and sometimes the honest answer is no. If a house sits far enough away that getting back for a callback is not realistic, saying so on the phone beats a wasted trip. Name the street and you will hear either way.

Frequently asked questions about the service area

My town is not on the list. Do you cover it?

Possibly. Those nine pages exist because those places generate enough work to write about specifically, not because the map ends there. Anything in Lehigh or Northampton county is normal territory, and the upper Bucks boroughs are regular stops. Call and name the street.

Does the same person show up in every town?

Yes. Unity is owner-run, so Tyler Furbacher walks the job, quotes it and installs it. That is exactly why the service area is drawn tight. A radius this size means the person who sized your system is the person you reach when you call a year later.

I am in UGI territory. Can I get natural gas?

Territory describes a region, not your block, and this catches people out regularly. UGI extends a service line at no cost within 150 feet of an existing main, so the real question is where the nearest main runs. Confirm that before planning a conversion.
